The last few years have been fascinating in
the world of politics and business. Mayagedon takes pieces from both of these
areas and creates a satire that hits so close to real life I sometimes wondered
if the author was going to give me a wink and a nudge and say "you are right, I
based this character on so-and-so".The book covers all of the entertainment, business and political personalities we have come to know. It also adds in world-wide business and banking. Mix in the battle for marriage equality. The term Mayagedon refers to December 21, 2012, the supposed final day of the Mayan calendar. In the story the day happens with many events that affect the world politically, economically and physically.
The book has two endings which the author guides the reader to what should be their preferred ending by answering a questionnaire. I read both.
It was a fun read. I spent a lot of time figuring out who each character had been modeled after. If you enjoy People magazine and watch Extra a lot, Mayagedon is the book for you.
